Contraception-Access
Contraception Access
Have you ever wondered what would have happened if you experienced a delayed sexual debut or if you didn’t require a third party to authenticate your need to take on a contraception plan?
Rape-And-Consent
Rape And Consent
Rape culture isn’t just rape culture. Rape is a culture. A culture that has been fueled with victim-blaming and silence. How many people do you know who were raped but never spoke up because they’d be asked, ‘Were you wearing a miniskirt? Were you drunk? What were you doing in his house?’ and a host of other irrelevant questions.
FGM

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is a nightmare that girls across Africa continue to experience in the 21st century. Close to 3 million girls risk undergoing this process every year. Different cultures give different reasons as to why they still go on with the practice to date. The culture is also ethnic based as they perform different types of the act. 10% of women have experienced the most severe form, infibulation, while 80% have experienced either clitoridectomy or excision. What’s more annoying is that the procedure is done so that women can be ‘good enough for men. It’s done for the good of men and not the woman who has to endure pain and all the complications that come with it.

Early Child Marriages
Stephanie Okereke creatively told the effects of early child marriages in her award-winning movie Dry. We highly recommend that you watch this very emotional and informative story. Spoiler alert; get a whole pack of tissues!
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)
This is an imbalance in a woman’s hormone levels, the production of higher-than-normal male hormones that result in irregular menstruation and difficulties in conceiving. 70% of women with this syndrome have not been diagnosed, although it affects them at their reproductive age.
Domestic Violence In Canada
The rate at which women are losing their lives to domestic violence is harrowing. According to research, over 6000 women and children sleep in shelters because they are not safe in their own homes. Women and girls account for 68% of domestic violence victims and 78% of intimate partner violence.
